HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 43

Recognizing, honoring and commending Mr. Joe Deeds for his many significant contributions to Raleigh County and the State of West Virginia and designating the bridge at Route 119/30, in Beaver, West Virginia, the Joe Deeds Bridge.

Whereas, Joe Deeds, born February 3, 1930 at Beaver, West Virginia, has been a life long resident of Raleigh County, West Virginia; and
Whereas, Joe Deeds has lived a life of dedicated service to the Democratic party in Raleigh County, West Virginia
; and
Whereas, Joe Deeds, himself a veteran of the Korean War,
is a charter member of the Veteran's Museum of Raleigh County, West Virginia, is also a long standing member of the Farm Bureau; and
Whereas, Joe Deeds has performed many years and has provided hours of enjoyment by playing traditional blue grass music on his banjo
; and
Whereas, Joe Deeds is very active in providing clothing for needy persons through his efforts and involvement with a clothing center for needy persons
; and
Whereas, Joe Deeds has been an extremely active member of his church in performing church work and has rallied support for important projects
throughout Raleigh County, for which he deserves recognition, honor and congratulations for being an outstanding citizen of Raleigh County and the State of West Virginia; therefore be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That Joe Deeds be recognized, honored and commended for his major contribution to the Raleigh County community and to the State of West Virginia and that his efforts be further recognized and memorialized by designating the bridge in Beaver, West Virginia, at Route 119/30 the Joe Deeds Bridge, so that his service to the community will stand as an example to all; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways cause an appropriate sign to be placed at both ends of this bridge which designates the bridge as the "Joe Deeds Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
